Congregational Schools
A diocesan parent organisation is the membership body for all systemic Catholic schools within a particular diocese. Catholic systemic schools therefore affiliate to the Council through their diocesan organisation.
Where a parent organisation does not exist, the Catholic schools in the diocese are represented by a parent nominated by the Catholic Education Office or Bishop. Congregational schools affiliate directly to the Council.
A Chairperson and Committee of the Council are elected from amongst the authorised representatives.
Alternative representatives from each member body / group may also attend meetings and act for the representative in their absence but there is only one authorised representative of each member acting for that member at each meeting. The purpose for meetings is to provide a wider forum for discussing education issues and other issues that impact Catholic school families.
The CCSP provide parent representation on all major educational committees at both state and federal level, including:
NSW BoSTES Board Curriculum Committees (Geography, English, Science, Mathematics & History)
Peer Support Australia Reference Group
School Student Transport Scheme Appeals Panel
