One thing you have to say about Roger is that he’s never afraid to ask the hard questions.
And if you know Roger he doesn’t just ask innocently. He keeps on asking, and asking,
and asking, until the answer is at hand.
When I (Brian Croke) joined the Catholic Education Commission, NSW as Executive Director
in 1994 it wasn’t too long before I was trying to entice Roger to bring his experience to
bear on the Commission’s work. We then spent several productive years with Roger as our
colleague. In the courseof those years he also became the godfather of the newly formed
Council of Catholic School Parents, then its foundation Executive Officer. So, from the very
start he taught the Council to be satisfied with nothing less than the highest professional
standards. He also taught them to neverflinch from the hardest questions.
We extend our deepest sympathy to Roger's family and thank this wonderful man for his passion for Catholic Education.
Roger’s was farewelled at a beautiful Requiem Mass at his parish St Kieran’s Catholic Church, Manly Vale by family and many colleagues from the Catholic Education Commission and the CCSP.
