Catholic School Students take Top Honours in 2016 HSC

Catholic school students performed well in the 2016 NSW Higher School Certificate, with 25 taking first place in HSC courses.

Merit lists released by the NSW Board of Studies, Teaching and Educational Standards showed students across the range of NSW Catholic schools - urban and regional, systemic and congregational - ranked highly.

“It’s pleasing to see the diversity of students reflected in such strong results, with Catholic schools in Murwillumbah, Wagga Wagga, Maitland, Taree, Stanhope Gardens and Merrylands all represented,” Catholic Education Commission NSW Acting Executive Director, Ian Baker, said today.

“Special credit is paid to students in country areas such as Coen Brand of Kildare Catholic College in Wagga Wagga, who topped the state in Information & Digital Technology Examination - while still in Year 11 - and also Katie Jones from Mt St Patrick College in Murwillumbah and Thomas Dormor from St Clare’s in Taree who came first in English Extension 1 and Extension 2 respectively,” Mr Baker said.
